After years of increase, Internet traffic on BNIX dropped for the first time last year. Both average traffic and peaks were lower in 2022 than in the record year of 2021. The decline is due to the considerably lower impact of corona on our business and private life.

After 2 online editions, the BNIX Networking Event in person made its return on September 29th.

Earlier this year, the Belgian National Internet Exchange applied to join the MANRS (Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security) initiative. MANRS is supported by the Internet Society and offers norms and guidelines to improve routing security on the internet.

The Belgian Internet eXchange node BNIX and its Luxembourg counterpart LU-CIX are going to interconnect in order to optimise the flow of Internet traffic between their two countries. In concrete terms, this means that BNIX participants and LU-CIX members, Internet access and/or content providers, will be able to directly and easily optimise the flow of Internet traffic for their professional and private customers on demand.

Good traditions must be preserved! After 2 years of online editions, the BNIX team @Belnet is pleased to invite its participants and partners again on the last Thursday of September for a live version of the BNIX Networking Event.

By implementing RPKI, BNIX wants to contribute in helping secure the worldwide Internet.
