NaWas, the Dutch Anti-DDoS, is connected to BNIX, which allows you, as a participant, to use your BNIX port to purchase the anti-DDoS service via a private VLAN.
How does this work?
After detection of a DDoS attack, the participant can redirect traffic to NaWas via BGP and the mitigation process starts. NaWas cleans the malicious traffic and sends the clean traffic back over a private VLAN from BNIX to the participant. Forwarding can also be done automatically, for example by using a flow analyzer. Such an analyzer detects a DDoS attack and can then automatically advertise the affected IP block with BGP through the NaWas. Once the DDoS attack stops, the “BGP announcement” can be reversed and all traffic returns to the participant.
